- Signal phrase: Nicholas Carr argues that…
Carr argues that the internet is affecting people’s reading habits. He believes from his own experiences that he can’t read the way we could. ” I can feel it, too. Over the past few years I’ve had an uncomfortable sense that someone, or something, has been tinkering with my brain, remapping the neural circuitry, reprogramming the memory. My mind isn’t going so far as i can tell but it’s changing. I’m not thinking the way I used to think. I can feel i most strongly when i’m reading. Immersing myself in a book or a lengthy article used to be easy.” Carr PG (1)

I agree with Carr on this. I personally have seen the differences in myself over the years. For me reading has always been a struggle for me due to my learning problems. Just being able to read 3 sentences in a row before my brain or eyes started to hurt was a big deal to me, I have always been working on one flaw of my reading skills. Jumping ahead or reading too fast has always been a huge problem for me.
